a couple of things about this [gif]:
1- JenLaw is the absolute greatest. Signed, all the clumsy girls of the world.
2- BCoop (rushing to her rescue) is a scholar and a gentleman. Heart. Throb.

You all have heard about it. That stretch of road that runs between Duke, Chapel Hill, and [my beloved] North Carolina State University. That great Tobacco Road signals which color is acceptable to wear to a Saturday kickoff in September, who you pledge your allegiance to during March Madness, and- in some cases- can divide a house, family, and marriage if only for a few hours during a full court press.
I bleed red. I always will. But as a die-hard sports fanatic, I also know that a good great coach makes a team. He molds and shapes the youth, the spectators, and ultimately the sport with every passionate play calls and triumphant fist pump. Dean Smith was all of that to college basketball- and yet so much more.
Smith has helped integrate and has helped innovate.
When faced with ignominious treatment, such as his ejection in the 1991 Final Four, he would not be denied the chance to show respect to others — shaking the hands of his victorious opponents as he excitedly did on the court in dignity.
Life is such a fleeting thing. The joy and happiness, as well as sorrow and sadness, are simply brief moments within a brief moment.
Let’s remember that. Through our team allegiance, our bitter disappointments [on the court and off], and our losing seasons- that in the midst of all of this is life. And if you’re as lucky as Coach Smith- a beautiful one at that.

From the National PTA:
When school resumes for Sandy Hook, it will be in a new building. Parent-volunteers are working to ensure that the students are welcomed back by a winter wonderland with the entire school decorated with as many unique snowflakes as possible. We encourage senders to be as creative as possible, remembering that no two snowflakes are alike. Please make and send snowflakes by January 12, 2013 to the Connecticut PTSA address:

The two retail industry visionaries looked through their (not so) little black books and partnered with the CFDA to enlist designer friends to create a collection of more than 50 eclectic gifting products—from apparel and home décor to pet products, sporting goods and more. Just in time for holiday shopping, this one-of-a-kind collection hits all Target and Neiman Marcus stores (and Target.com and NeimanMarcus.com) on December 1.
Ranging in price from $7.99 to $499.99, with most items less than $60, the collection boasts an impressive designer roster: Alice + Olivia, Altuzarra, Band of Outsiders, Brian Atwood, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Eddie Borgo, Jason Wu, Judith Leiber, Lela Rose, Marchesa, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Philip Crangi, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, Robert Rodriguez, Rodarte, Skaist-Taylor, Thom Browne, Tory Burch and Tracy Reese. (emphasis mine)
Bet you can guess where I’ll be bright and early on December 1st! oxo
